Assistant Professor in Computer Science at University of Palermo - Department of Mathematics and Computer Science
Member of the Governing Board of the Italian Association of Cognitive Science
Dr. Arianna Pavone is Assistant Professor in Computer Science at University of Palermo, Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. She is also member of the governing board of the Italian Association of Cognitive Science (AISC).
From 2022 to 2023, Dr. Arianna held a position as a Research Fellow in Computer Science at the University of Pisa, Italy, where she contributed to the bioinformatics research group led by Prof. Corrado Priami. Concurrently, she served as a data scientist at GlaxoSmithKline in Siena.
Dr. Arianna's academic background is rich and interdisciplinary, encompassing philosophy, cognitive science, and computer science. She earned her PhD in Cognitive Science in 2021 from the Department of Cognitive Science at the University of Messina, under the supervision of Prof. Alessio Plebe. Prior to her doctoral studies, she obtained a Laurea in Cognitive Science in 2017 from the University of Messina. Her undergraduate education was completed in 2015 at the University of Catania, where she received a bachelor's degree in Humanities.
During his university tenure, he began a fruitful collaboration with the research group led by Prof. Simone Faro at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Catania. This partnership was instrumental in his foundational training in computation, text processing, and machine learning. Throughout his master's degree, he further delved into cognitive sciences, focusing on the modeling of biologically plausible artificial brain networks under the guidance of Prof. Alessio Plebe. This ongoing collaboration with the University of Catania's research group has not only continued to the present but also facilitated his entry into the emerging field of quantum computing.
Dr. Arianna's doctoral research, supervised by Professor Plebe, focused on nuanced topics within the philosophy of science, particularly concerning biological and artificial reasoning processes. Her work involved simulating computational models of brain networks which, alongside her research in text processing, bridged her interests to the broader field of information technology. Presently, her scholarly pursuits are positioned at the confluence of philosophy, quantum technologies, and computing. Dr. Arianna's current research interests span computer science, artificial intelligence, text processing, and quantum computing, reflecting a deep commitment to exploring interdisciplinary approaches within these domains.
Dr. Arianna Pavone is a researcher working in a multidisciplinary field, with interests spanning both computer science and the humanities. She is currently focused on text processing and quantum computing, but has also worked on topics such as knowledge representation and computational linguistics. Her research combines scientific and humanistic approaches, exploring fundamental questions such as the relationship between natural and artificial brain systems. This integrated approach contributes to a broader understanding of human cognitive processes and their applications in the field of computer science.
Dr. Arianna Pavone has participated in more than 18 international scientific events as a speaker or organizer. Below is a list of the most recent events in which she has taken part.
